Air-conditioning plant opens in Jebel Ali

1996 - Sultan Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Chairman and Managing Director of the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, officially inaugurated the new factory of the French Gulf Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Manufacturing Company. He toured the factory along with the company’s managing director Iskandar Roumieh. The company opened its first factory in Jebel Ali in 1988 with one assembly line, producing 500 units a year. By 1995, production increased to about 20,000 units. The new 6,000-square metre factory has four assembly lines and the company is planning to double production. Apart from supplying the Gulf Cooperation Council, the company exports to Syria, Morocco, Nigeria, Libya, Algeria, Somalia, Jordan, Pakistan, Canada, Greece, France and Taiwan.
